Fish Passage
“Salmon will not survive unless we restore wild salmon runs and get them off the central valley floor. All over California, salmon have been blocked from their cold water mountain spawning grounds by dams. We are only delaying extinction unless we build volitional passage around these dams. Salmon must complete a full life cycle to bring nutrients from the mountain to the ocean, and from the ocean to the mountain. There are no shortcuts. We cannot go against nature.”
Flow Models along the Tribal Alternative for Volitional Fish Passage
As a part of the Feasibility Study of Salmon Passage at Shasta Dam, Anchor QEA created hydrologic flow models to demonstrate depth and velocity of the natural channel. The two videos below depict the hydrologic model at two different flows, 80 cfs and 120 cfs.
