One Word Sawalmem
In his uplifting and internationally-acclaimed short film One Word Sawalmem, co-director Michael “Pom” Preston of the Winnemem Wintu tribe of Mt. Shasta, California gives us a rare look into the life of local Native wisdom keepers. These are people who hold humanity’s most intimate knowledge about how to live in balance with the Earth and how to thrive with the natural world. The film invites us to consider how the healing of the planet could be facilitated by shifting our relationship with the Earth. From the current mainstream economic one based in exploitation and domination, to the type of relationship that human beings have held dear for tens of thousands of years – a sacred one that is based in respect and reciprocity.

Dancing Salmon Home
"Dancing Salmon Home" is an emotional journey of loss and reunification, following the Winnemem Wintu tribe of Northern California across generations and oceans as they reunite with their long-lost salmon relatives. From their ancestral McCloud River, below Mt. Shasta, tribal members travel to New Zealand to meet the descendants of the McCloud River Chinook salmon, which have been missing from their home river for 65 years. Along the way, the 28 tribal members hold four days of ceremony beside New Zealand's Rakaia River, forging enduring bonds with the Maori people of the region, sharing a message of respect for the natural world, and launching plans to bring their salmon home.
Dancing Salmon Home received top honors from the 2012 American Indian Film Festival with the Best Documentary Award.
