Alternatives Formulation and Evaluation Report

The objectives of the Feasibility Study were as follows: 1) identify a range of potentially viable juvenile and adult fish passage technologies for providing volitional passage around Keswick and Shasta dams; 2) assess in detail up to three volitional passage alternatives, including the concept outlined in the Winnemem Wintu Tribe’s restoration concept (Winnemem Wintu Tribe 2016) that encompasses passage through the natural channels of Cow, Little Cow, and Dry creeks east of Redding, California; and 3) compare the volitional passage alternatives to a trap and haul (non-volitional) passage method.

The Background Compendium provides a synthesis of existing research and studies related to physical and biological conditions in the Project’s study area, providing background information for the Alternatives Formulation of the Feasibility Study.
